About the studio
In 2002 hal and alicia were working in the backyard garden of their home in portland, oregon when they imagined that they’d like to have a big property where their studio and home could share the garden, that they could grow food and cook it for their friends, that they could have working retreats to collaborate on the development and creation of projects … they imagined it to be on sauvie island, just outside of portland. but then a fast cat changed the plan and in 2007 they bought this property in upstate new york, and have been plugging away on it ever since. the barn studio completes fall of 2012, strangely coincident to the calendar completion of that 10-year plan. here is what’s next.
